Title: Towards Alpha and Gamma at the B Factories

Speaker: Dr Alan Watson (Birmingham)

Abstract
The primary objective of the BaBar and Belle experiments is to test the Standard Model explanation of CP violation in weak decays by over-constraining the CKM Unitarity Triangle. This requires the measurement of all three angles of the triangle. Although relatively precise measurements of the angle beta have been obtained using B decays to charmonium states, the remaining angles, alpha and gamma, pose greater experimental challenges. This seminar will review the current state of measurements in channels sensitive to these angles from the two B factory experiments, and the prospects for the future.

This seminar will take place in room 115, Physics West at 1315. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served at 1300.
