Title: Recent results on the search of direct CP violation in K+- -> 3 pi decays by the NA48/2 Collaboration

Speaker: Dr Luca Fiorini (Cambridge)

Abstract

NA48/2 is a high precision experiment on charged Kaon decays installed at SPS site of CERN and using a novel design for simultaneous K+/K- beams and an upgraded NA48 set-up. Main goal of the experiment is the search of direct CP-violation in K+- -> 3 pi decays. During the two years long data taking, an unprecedentedly large statistics of K+- decays has been collected. Recent results on direct CP violation obtained by the analysis of 2003 data will be presented. The observation of a cusp-like effect in the pi+- pi0 pi0 Dalitz plot and a linked novel method to measure the difference of pion-pion scattering lengths a0-a2 will be presented as well.

This Particle Physics Seminar will take place in Seminar Room 1 (room 103), Physics West, at 1315. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served at 1300.
