Diffractive Interaction at the LHC

Tim Martin (Birmingham)

Abstract

An investigation of the diffractive proton-proton interactions which make up over 20% of the inelastic cross section at the LHC but are poorly described by current phenomenological models. I will look at how uncertainties in the diffractive cross section limit our ability to measure the total cross section at the LHC.
