CMS Review

Samuel Webb (Imperial College)

Abstract

I will present a summary of the latest results and upgrade activities from the CMS experiment at CERN, with a particular focus on those with a strong UK involvement. Run 2 of the LHC was completed last year and the total CMS dataset of 150 fb-1 allows precise studies of the known particles of the Standard Model, as well as allowing for wide-ranging searches for new physics. In addition an extensive detector upgrade programme is in progress to be ready for the start of the high-luminosity LHC in around 2026. This includes a new tracker and high granularity end-cap calorimeter along with associated improvements to the trigger.
