The MMHT View of the Proton

Lucian Harland-Lang (Oxford University)

Abstract

The determination of the quark and gluon structure of the proton is a central component of the precision phenomenology program at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This internal structure is quantified by the Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs), which encode the information related to the momentum distribution of quarks and gluons within the proton. In this talk I will present an overview of recent developments in the field of PDFs from the MMHT perspective, and some of the opportunities and challenges presented by the high level of precision being aimed for (and achieved) at the LHC.
