Neutrinos from Stored Muon Beams: an Incremental Approach to the Neutrino Factory

Ken Long (Imperial College)

Abstract

The study of the neutrino is the study of physics beyond the Standard Model. With theta_13 measured, the focus of the long baseline neutrino oscillation programme is to determine the mass hierarchy and to search for leptonic CP violation. Short baseline anomolies hint at sterile neutrinos. I will explain how neutrinos from decays of stored muons can serve the long baseline programme, provide definitive measurements of short baseline oscilllations, and incrementally lead to a Neutrino Factory.
